Warrington Hospital
Project Brief
Warrington Hospital is a busy specialist NHS care facility near Manchester in England that focuses on:
- A&E care
- Maternity services
- Stroke and cardiac units
- Complex surgery pre and post operation
Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Trust (WHH) provides expert care for those both as inpatients and outpatients.
The Trust required a versatile storage space and approached us to carry out the entire build journey – including the design, manufacture, installation, and site works.

Our Approach
At first, the priority was to create more space for storing beds, but the plan is to then eventually convert the room into a doctor’s mess hall / breakroom when the beds are reallocated to their new facilities within the main building. With the thinking that bed storage was potentially needed for a shorter timeframe, it was more feasible and environmentally friendly to create one building.
The building is therefore fully wired with sockets and appropriately insulated for both bed safe storage and for future use by medical personnel to relax in, with the option for internal walls to be added as it is a blank canvas with potential.
The Results
We built a 10.2 x 9m building complete with lighting, sockets, and several windows to let in natural light situated at Warrington Hospital. While windows may seem unessential for what is essentially a warehouse, the plan is to repurpose the space for a staff room means that it’s ready to go as soon as the Trust wishes for its next life post-gurney depot. Simply finished in a pale grey with dark grey door and roof edge, the anthracite grey uPVC windows gives the building a timeless and minimalist exterior as well.
Michael Lomas, WHH Estates Officer, said:
“I cannot fault any of the journey with Elite Systems. I thoroughly recommend them for modular buildings due to their professionalism, their speed of replying at the start of the journey, and then the final installation was faultless.”
