Holland Park Primary School
Project Brief
Sometimes, classrooms need to be refurbished or even demolished to create a fresh sense of excitement and optimism within a school for both students and teachers. We were recommended by our long-standing client Essex County Council to Sigma Trust, a multi-academy trust. We were tasked with demolishing an older building and then designing and fitting a new modular classroom at Holland Park Primary School.

Our Approach
The work for this project started quickly, as Holland Park trusted us to demolish the existing building on the school’s property. To access the site, we had to remove the electric gates/fencing so we could get our equipment and vehicles through. Gaining planning permission was a vital part of the project to allow us to start working on designing the modular classroom itself.
We fitted a 164.7 square metre building comprised of six modules, and finished using a mixture of durable plastic coated steel and feature cedar cladding panels to soften the appearance. In today’s world, we understand that schools want to become a more sustainable environment for everyone involved, that’s why we fitted new solar PV panels onto the roof of this modular classroom, so it can generate its own electricity to help power it as well as a new upgraded electrical supply. We also fitted a rainwater soakaway to ensure an efficient and economical process for removing rain water.
The Results
At Elite, our main concern is providing high-quality, safe and sustainable modular solutions for all sectors, including education. Students, teachers and staff members are always the priority when it comes to our design and that’s what we had in mind with this building for Holland Park.
