Bardney Playgroup

Project Brief

Formerly known as Bardney Playgroup (was part of Cedar Childcare, and now Smartie Pants Nursery), they required a modern new building – and a turnkey solution. Following a competitive tender process, our fully-managed approach caught the eye of Lincolnshire County Council, and we worked with the school and local authority to oversee the full project: from foundations to stylish pitched roof.

Our Approach

Once appointed by Lincolnshire County Council to deliver this new modular early years facility for Bardney Playgroup, we began works on-site and in our dedicated modular building factory in West Yorkshire. As part of the turnkey solution, we were also responsible for procuring and installing all utilities for the building.

On site, we had to lay new steel pile foundations to support the structure, as well as installing a soakaway drainage system to prevent standing water. In the factory our team commenced building the wall panels and unusual five degree pitched roof, which – together with the cedar cladding and a vaulted canopy – gave the modular building a distinctive and welcoming appearance.

Following a two-week manufacturing process, we delivered the building to the site, and commenced the fit-out, which included connecting utilities, ensuring electrics were fully operational, including the electronically-operated rooflights, and the installation of wet-pour play surfaces to provide a safe outdoor environment for the children.

The Results

Bardney Playgroup has a brand new, modern facility that children can play and learn in for many years to come, with a building that is both aesthetically beautiful thanks to its warm timber cladding and distinctive roof, and functionally sound with our signature high-quality modular build.
