Great Dunmow Waste Transfer Station
Project Brief
Originally designed as traditional build, Essex County Council, recognised the benefits of off-site construction and commissioned Elite Systems to provide two factory manufactured modular buildings, a welfare facility and weighbridge office for Great Dunmow Waste Transfer Station.

Client
Essex County Council
Sector
Government
Location
Great Dunmow, Essex
Our Approach
For the two storey welfare facility Elite, following a detailed review of the original plans, developed their timber frame multi-storey system with custom fabricated steel work to support the projecting edge details, designed to complement the architecture of the main building.
Both the two storey welfare facility and the factory manufactured single storey weighbridge office were finished in profiled steel and render and benefitted from a sedum roof to enhance biodiversity and reduce rainwater run-off.
All internal finishes along with electrics and plumbing were again undertaken off-site ensuring the highest standards of build.
The Results
Factory manufactured in two modules the welfare facility was designed, manufactured, delivered to site and installed by Elite in just two weeks, along with the single storey weighbridge, providing significant improvements to the 8 to 12-week programme offered by traditional build.
In addition to saving time, the efficiency of off-site build provided cost savings, reduced site waste and with fewer site trades required, health and safety risks were minimised on-site.
