1,500 trees and counting: how our Corporate Grove is growing

We pride ourselves on our ability to provide a root-and-branch service to our clients – but this year, we decided to take this one step further by expanding our Trees for Life programme.

When we launched our Trees for Life corporate grove in 2019, we pledged to plant a tree for every child accommodated in one of our modular classrooms, resulting in the planting of 570 trees in the ancient Caledonian forest in Scotland in the first six months of the scheme’s launch.

While modular construction is rightly understood to be a greener way to build compared to traditional construction methods, we’re determined to strive to be environmentally better: whether that’s committing to using responsibly-sourced timber in our modular classrooms, healthcare buildings, and commercial spaces, or offsetting our carbon by planting more trees.

That’s why we recently expanded our Trees for Live commitment to cover every single person accommodated in one of our buildings – whether it’s a hospital ward, early years facility, or office building. 

And that’s how we have hit a significant milestone: we’re now committing to plant more than 1,500 trees in our ever-expanding corporate grove.

We want our customers to feel like they’ve done their part for the environment too, and that’s why we have decided to issue certificates to each of our customers whose projects have allowed us to contribute to the Caledonian Forest in beautiful Glen Affric, Scotland, stating exactly how many trees we are planting on their behalf.

Commenting on the initiative, Marcus Sutcliffe said: “We originally targeted planting 360 trees per year as part of our commitment to the Trees for Life scheme, so to be in a position to plant 1,500 trees in just two years is a fantastic achievement, and we’re proud to be giving something back.

“We know from our conversations with Trees for Life that these 1,500 trees will have a big impact in preserving the forest, protecting rare animals, and preventing devastating natural events like forest fires and flooding.”
