Our Approach
We were appointed through the Crown Commercial Service’s (CCS) Modular Building Solutions RM6014 framework (now updated as of 1st April 2023 to RM6184), which means that the local authority knew that we met their procurement standards and allowed them to act quickly in selecting us as a partner.
Both schools required a fast turnaround for the new nursery classroom buildings, which were commissioned in response to a funding commitment from the Welsh Government for schools to offer 30 hours’ nursery provision. The government made capital funds available to local authorities, with the provision to be made available very quickly.
As well as speed, the Isle of Anglesey County Council and the schools wanted spacious, airy nursery rooms with plenty of natural light, and needed the building’s exteriors to complement the existing buildings and their surroundings.
Our design incorporated large windows and plenty of internal space, creating the right atmosphere for the nursery rooms. Externally, Plastisol steel cladding with western red cedar timber cladding infills created an aesthetically pleasing façade without appearing intrusive.
The Results
Each completed within just 15 weeks from order to final sign-off, our modular buildings have given the schools light, comfortable and flexible nursery space. The external finish means the buildings blend with their surroundings, whilst providing staff and children with modern nursery facilities.
