What will you find in an AMU?
While each of our facilities are designed bespoke to the client’s needs, within every design of an assessment ward you will find:
- 4-bed wards
- Possibly multiple single occupant en-suite rooms
- Treatment space
- Nurse station
- Storage facilities
- Extra wide hallways to accommodate patient movement as well as their equipment with room for oncoming traffic
And potentially:
- Staff rest facilities perhaps including toilets

- Can be single, double, or triple storey

How long will it take to build a medical assessment unit?
We estimate that a typical single-storey AMU to house around 25 patients may take around 24 weeks from design to delivery, however it depends on how smoothly planning has gone as well as other factors such as topography and our own pipeline.
With each project we will discuss with the client a more accurate and experience-based timeline and coordinate with the customer and any other contractors.
We do offer a modular turnkey solution, but we are also very used to working as part of a larger ecosystem especially on larger projects.
Whether you need an AMU for a short-term solution while your main building is refurbished or remodelled, or are looking for a far more long-term and permanent solution, we can help. We can build to blend it with the environment or buildings around it or make it as striking as you see fit.
As a standalone or an extension, our modular wards all include the necessary supplementary spaces (e.g. storage, server rooms, plant rooms, etc.).
