After winning a competitive tender, we were tasked with manufacturing and installing a BREEAM-accredited modular education building, with a requirement for special educational needs (SEN) facilities and eco-friendly features.
Our capability in creating spacious, modern modular classrooms is tried and tested, but Ravenscliffe High School & Sports College was special in several ways.
We created the five-room complex in our West Yorkshire factory to the school’s exacting specification, with a host of additional features that made it anything but standard. Our ability to deliver bespoke buildings means that we were confident that we could match the brief.
As well as manufacturing the shell of the building, which totalled 32 metres by 15 metres, we installed heat recovery ventilation units and solar PV panels on the roof. Our work included diverting the incoming gas main to the school and fitting a new gas-fired central heating system to further warm the space, due to limitations on the available electricity supply. We also fitted a sprinkler system.
The classrooms included dedicated SEN spaces, so we fitted specialist equipment such as hoists and extensive accessible toilets and other accessible facilities to enable staff to take good care of the school’s pupils, several of whom have complex needs.
