Hamford Primary Academy
Project Brief
Hamford Primary Academy reviewed possible locations for extra classroom space when the school’s pupils numbers increased. The school also needed dedicated teaching facilities for children with learning disabilities, meaning the new building had to be fully accessible with a low carbon footprint.

Our Approach
Off-site construction presented the ideal solution, and Essex County Council appointed Elite Systems to manufacture, fit out and install the building which comprised a large teaching area, meeting facilities and washrooms. The building was manufactured off-site while the groundworks were undertaken in preparation for the building to be installed.
We worked with the school to circumvent the site’s tricky access issues. The new building was to be installed close to the main school and other relocatable buildings, meaning that it had to be craned into place across the school boundary. What’s more, we undertook complex groundworks to position the building’s floor level with the ground so it was fully accessible.
The Results
The finished modular building took just three hours to install, keeping disruption at the school to the minimum. Cedar vertical cladding provided an attractive finish, while the solar panels met the school’s sustainability requirements.
