At the start of 2006 Leicester City PCT were faced with an accommodation problem. St Peters Health Centre was planned to be demolished and re built on the same site, however, where to relocate the Health Centre employees and patients within the immediate locality was proving to be a difficult problem to solve without splitting up various key departments.

A plot of land, then being used as a car park, immediately adjacent to the site was identified as a possibility; however how to decant a large health centre with a full dentistry compliment seemed difficult. Considering all the options Leicester City PCT asked OGC Buying Solutions for recommendations.

Within the framework Elite Systems were suggested as a possible supplier of the accommodation requirements. Meetings and discussions took place and Elite provided an initial plan of a 3 storey building encapsulating all the requirements of the temporary health centre. These included a full dentistry suit, including X-ray facilities, a pharmacy, consulting rooms and sufficient accommodation for 2 very busy GP practices, all of which to be DDA compliant, and conform to current building regulations.

The building, all 42 sections were to be installed on the site located on Conduit Street in Leicester City Centre. Andrew Bevan, Project Manager for Leicester Lift (PCT) said, "With the help of Elite we have finally agreed a layout and room data sheets with which all the potential occupants are satisfied, we have given Elite the green light and are looking forward to receiving the building on site"

Delivery of the modules commenced just 8 weeks later, with fit out of specialist items taking a further 3 weeks, once this was completed the 1,512 sq meter was ready for occupation.

Mike Twizell, Sales Director for Elite commented, "It was a tight programme, however we have the rescores within our organization to be able to offer the client the earliest completion date, our experience of fast track production, and strong site management demonstrates what we are capable of in a relative short space of time."

Once operational the building proved to be a tremendous success, with the occupants fully enjoying their new surroundings, Andrew went on to say" I can honestly say that every patient and member of staff I have talked to have been complimentary on the quality of the modular construction, they feel that they are in a traditional building when inside. Since the Conduit Street building has been installed, Leicester Lift PCT has gone on to order a further five additional buildings totalling over 2,200 sq metres, with the Conduit Street Building being retained for a further 2 years.
